Tomecek, Frank

Frank Tomecek has been a member of the POW-R Sertoma Club since 1981. He has been married to Jay since 1965. They have four children and five grand children. Currently he is retired but spent most of his business career selling and marketing computer hardware and software. He has held most all the offices in the club and is currently president. He is a member of the Board of Directors and Foundation Board for the Sertoma Centre. He feels that as an active member of the club he is helping people who are in need of special services which the centre can provide with highest quality and reasonable cost. These services are being provided while he is enjoying fellowship with the other club members.

Straz, Bob S.

100_0746_modExecutive Vice President – United Trust Bank. Serves as the mayor of Palos Heights, IL. and is the senior vice-president of Palos Bank. He has been affiliated with Sertoma since 1976 as a member of POW-R Sertoma Club and as past treasurer and president of the operating board.

Michau, Michael

Michael J. Michau, CPA has been the Treasurer since starting with the club. He has been married to Carol since 1972. They have three grown married children and six grandchildren. He is a  graduate of  Western Illinois University and received his MST in Taxation from DePaul University.

Michael is president of Century Tax Service. Inc. They prepare individual, corporate, partnership, trusts and individual tax returns.

He is a past president of the IL CPA Society – Chicago South Chapter and served as treasurer of the Marist HS fathers club while his two boys attend that school.

He feels that we are all put on this earth to help others.  So as an active member of the POW-R Power Sertoma Club, he is enjoying fundraising for the Sertoma Center, it’s Foundation and the Sertoma Speech and hearing Center and many other charities.

Katzmann, Art

Family information- Spouse name: Debby             Year Married:  1968

Number of Children:   Art IV and Paul    Grand Kids: Allison-18, Katie-17, Mikaela-14, AJ (Art V) 12

Job/Position/background – What do you do or have done?     Retired as part owner of Chatham Rug, 10418 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60643. I worked there for 40 years and was President for 25 years. I am still active as part-time Manager (usually in absentia) of Katzmann Building Fund which involves investments and commercial real estate rentals.

Positions held in the Club : Everything from cook to President. I’ve been a Life Member of POW-R for 35 years.

Positions held at Centre/Speech & Hearing: Was a board member of “The Centre” for several years. I was also a board member at the Speech and Hearing Center and served both as Vice-President and President.

Reason for Joining Club : To be active in community affairs. After all these years  I have not found a better club and national association with which to be associated.

Other Information: Glad to be retired. We spend about 6 months in Illinois at our lake house about 45 minutes north of Peoria. During the cold winters in Chicago we live in a golf community in Bradenton, Florida.

Fanning, John

John Fanning is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Fanning Communications, Inc., a marketing and custom content firm located in the Chicago suburb of Orland Park, Illinois.  John grew up on the south side of Chicago attending Mendel Catholic High School, Moraine Valley Community College and Lewis University for undergraduate study and graduate school at the Illinois Institute of Technology.   A writer, educator and engineer, John is the author of six books and thousands of articles that have appeared in magazines and newspapers throughout the United States.  His firm specializes in both digital and print delivered communications as well as high security website development and hosting.  He is active with a number of professional, civic and charitable organizations and is on the board of directors at Sertoma Centre in Alsip, the FBI Chicago Citizens Academy Alumni Association, InfraGard Chicago Members Alliance, the Disabled American Veterans, the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, and serves as president of the Disabled Illinois Veterans.  His main professional interests are centered on Science, Engineering, Medicine, Technology and National Defense.   He resides with his wife Cathy and their two Australian Shepherds in Orland Park, Illinois.
